Opening Day of Rockybowl did not disappoint …

Hello Rockybowlers,

I am sorry for the delay in my opening announcement.  But, after Rocky Long (coach of SDSU) lost in the New Mexico Bowl, but the real Rocky Long won, I was at a loss for words.  I am once again amazed and NOT impressed with all of the prognosticators choices this year.  Do you all believe that Iowa is going to miss their friggin plane and NOT show up for the Insight Bowl? Not one Rocky Bowler believes the Hawkeyes can take down their Great Plains rival Sooners.  Or that the blue turf curse of Boise State does not even merit one person to step up and bet on Arizona State? This has never happened before as long as we have been keeping records for the Rocky Bowl.

With hesitation I must congratulate Cheuy for being the only bowler to pick all 3 winners on opening day of the Rockybowl.  But, the road is long and hard; so a quick sprint out of the blocks means nothing to the long and faithful bowlers.

For the new bowlers, you are welcomed and ENCOURAGED to comment on each and every post.  I want some discussion on why the Ducks will be out of bowl play for many years to come, WTG Willie Lyles.  Or why Oklahoma State or Stanford (not Alabama) should be in the National Championship game.

Fifteen games to play before we present the Bobby Breeze award at the Rocky Bowl party on December 30th.  Please save the date (Friday Dec 30) as we look forward to seeing new and old bowlers at Rocky Bowl HQ. Stay tuned to the blog for more information coming soon.

For now the commissions remind you the mission of the Rocky Bowl is to watch and/or pay attention to all  games that have little or no meaning.

All communications from the commissioners and players will come for this website (no more spam email), so be sure to check back frequently and at least check on the standings and add a few comments.

Be safe and happy bowling.

  2. Don’t worry... you’ll only lose the first 4 games points... just like EVERYBODY ELSE!

"There's a sucker born every minute" is a phrase often incorrectly credited to P. T. Barnum...

more likely it was created by the Rocky Bowl Commissioners...

  3. Hey,
Don't look now but last years toilet bowl winner has taken off to a great start and is leading ther RB with the least points lost 4, and has 4 out of 5 wins. When asked about her recent success she replied "I love Pirates" no idea how that relates but Go Laura LULU Long.

  4. Not bad Lulu, you have picked 4 out of 5, but still near the bottom on the toilet bowl Leaderboard. It's not how many winners you pick, it's how many points are on Scoreboard baby!!!. Scoring points is how you win, lighting up the Scoreboard!!! That's what Pirates are all about. You'll learn.

  5. Now it is clear way top pirate has never won the Rockybowl. The V
Column point lost is the indicator of how your final position and payoff will be determined. So if you are near the top of the reader board with 40 or more lost points it is a false lead and in the long stretch home you will fade away. As any good pirate can tell you you must have wind to catch your bounty, matey
